Description
The Parrae are stout, fur‑covered forest dwellers with curved beaks and thick, root‑gripping limbs, beings who have survived beside the fearsome Fareesians not through strength, but through tradition and craft. Their culture is intentionally low‑tech, relying on hand‑woven barkcloth, resin‑sealed satchels, and tools carved from fallen hornwood rather than metal or circuitry. In a galaxy of plasma rifles and starship hulls, the Parrae remain devoted to the old ways: reading the forest through scent and soil, shaping living shelters from pliant saplings, and brewing potent salves from fungal blooms. Their beaks are their greatest tools, used to carve channels in tree bark, tap nutrient sap, and etch warning glyphs for Fareesian hunters. The Fareesians respect them as “Ground‑Keepers,” the ones who maintain the health of the forests that sustain both species.
Though they avoid advanced technology, the Parrae are indispensable to Fareesian hunting bands. They carry bundles of dried moss for water filtration, sling woven signal‑flags instead of using comms, and mark safe routes with subtle cuts in the bark, signs only a trained eye can read. Their low‑tech methods are prized because they leave no electronic trace, allowing Fareesian warriors to stalk prey without alerting sensors or scanners. In battle, Parrae rarely fight, but they move with quiet purpose beneath the canopy, tending to wounded hunters with poultices and stabilizing the terrain by reinforcing roots and clearing loose debris. Their simplicity is their strength: in a universe obsessed with machines, the Parrae endure by trusting the forest, their hands, and the old knowledge that has kept them alive beside apex predators for generations.
