Description
The Agaracale remembered an old trick. They used the smallest of them to absorb the powerful and the deadly. Thus was born The Primifloran — a sacred convergence of fungal and floral wrath. From this convergence came the Dionaeid.
The Dionaeid were once wild, carnivorous flora — solitary, instinct-driven, and unknowing of the Agaloon. But when the Primifloran reached into the verdant depths of Threnaxis, it found them. The Agaracale grafted spores into their roots, and the Dionaeid awakened. They became One. Towering, bipedal, and crowned with petal-maws, the Dionaeid are living weapons. Their limbs are fibrous and strong, their bodies armored in chitinous bark. Tendrils sprout from their backs, tipped with sensory bulbs that pulse with fungal light. They are not born — they are Primifloraned. The Dionaeid are the Primifloran’s vengeance. They stride forth to protect the One, to consume the interlopers, and to return their biological essence to the soil. They do not speak. They feed. Their minds are linked to the Sporemind, guided by the Psychic Pontiffs.
The Dionaeid and the Agaracale are not two races. They are two expressions of the One. The Agaracale are the mind. The Dionaeid are the maw. Together, they have cast down many interlopers. The toxins of the Primifloran spread fast. The dead feed the soil. The One flourishes. But now, something new has come. Strange colored creatures, larger than the original interlopers. They do not fall to spores. They do not fear death. They charge into the Primifloran with no care. They are not of the One. They are not of anything.
The Pontiffs probe their minds and find only static. The Dionaeid bite deep, but the flesh does not rot. This is wrong. And yet, some of the original interlopers have changed. They tend to their wounded. They rebuild. They send transmissions — not of war, but of question. The Sporemind listens. The Primifloran waits. The Agaloon is silent. The One must decide. Do we consume? Or do we commune?
